“If you can’t figure out your purpose, figure out your passion. For your passion will lead you right into your purpose”
~ Bishop T.D. Jakes
Shall we begin…
To ensure that we aren’t strangers anymore, please allow me to properly introduce myself. My name is Momilana Aikens. Now, people tend to get nervous when they see my name and I can only imagine that they’re thinking “Oh Lord, how do I pronounce that one”. Well, I’ll make it real simple for you. Please feel free to call me “Momi”. It’s pronounced like “mom” with the long “e” sound at the end of it. Now that we aren’t strangers anymore, here’s a bit more about your potential therapist.
As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I am able to pursue my passion and live out my purpose of assisting individuals, families, and couples as they try to address various dilemmas.
Michelle Obama reminded us that the job a person holds doesn’t change who they are rather it reveals their true self. Now of course she was talking about being president, but I’m pretty sure it applies to any profession. I am the wife of a Veteran, a crazy soccer mom, an enthusiastic girl scout mom, and a Christian. Oh yeah and did I mention that “I am a Phoenix”….LOL! My rigorous studies at The University of Phoenix have equipped me with the necessary tools to serve my clients in a capacity that I can be proud of. All of those things influence my therapeutic approach.
There are a number of therapeutic orientation in which I draw knowledge and tools when trying to create the most comprehensive approach for my clients; however I am very much a Client-Centered therapist who also utilizes Solution-Focus as I do believe that we already have the solutions to whatever problems plague us…we’ve just forgotten how to identify them. I work really hard with each of my clients to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing.
So again I’ll ask…shall we begin?
